ABOUT OUR SALES: This sale is the largest advertised sale in the country with catalogs mailed all over the United States & Canada. Each sale is advertised in numerous horse magazines, newspapers & the entire catalog is on our website. We have had over 10,000 hits. All catalogs are mailed at no charge upon request. We will continue the current advertising & increase it to bring more buyers to the sale. Every sale we have at least 50 new buyers that attend the sale & our catalog mailing lists keep getting larger.

TO CONSIGN: Complete a Consignment Form, state the sale you are consigning to, mail or fax a copy of registration papers, (or a description of grade horses) remarks about your horse, coggins test (if available), catalog fee (See Below), your name, address and phone number (faxes received without name/address/phone # will not be included in catalog - please call to confirm receipt of fax). We have no way of contacting you if the fax isn't readable.

The catalog fee is $80.00  to Catalog Horses, for the Catalog Horse Sale which includes a no sale fee.

CATALOG SUBSTITUTES: If the horse listed in the catalog is not brought to the sale -- that sale position will be forfeited. Substitutions will not be allowed.

THANK YOU: We wish to thank all of our consignors and people attending the sale. Your business is very much appreciated. Sale days are very busy for the staff and management of R & J Horse Sales and it is difficult to extend this Thank You to each and every person attending the sale. We appreciate all the miles you travel to attend. Our goal is to make your visit enjoyable. We continue to increase our advertising and improve our facility and to provide buyers with as much information on the horses consigned and give the seller the greatest advantage, so their horse brings top dollar. Again, thank you for your support. The mixture of the types of horses consigned to the sale is great. It provides a horse that will suit all types of buyers.

CONSIGNORS: Please bring all the paperwork to the office the morning of the sale (unless you mailed it with your consignment). Make sure everything is in order and you have a breeders certificate on bred mares. Many buyers come into the office before purchasing a horse that interest them to check the papers. If all necessary papers are not in the office they are hesitant to bid.

We do not allow back alley trading – sale of all horses must go through the sale ring & office.

  1. We urge buyers to thoroughly examine horses that interest them.  All responsibility and guarantees are between buyer and seller. All sales are absolute and final.
  2. Buyers assume all expense and risk on horses after they leave the sales ring, but possession of the horse cannot be obtained until payment in full has been made. Sale is not responsible for sickness or accidents.
  3. Terms of the sale are cash and payment in full to be made immediately after the sale.  All payment shall be in U.S. Currency.  Please provide a bank letter of credit with personal checks unless credit has been established with R & J Horse Sale.  All returned or insufficient checks will immediately be turned over the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office and charges will be filed.
  4. The highest bidder will be the buyer. Any disputes arising between bidders on a horse in dispute shall be put up again for advanced bids. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid.
  5. If any person shall purchase a lot and not pay for it, nothing shall prevent sales management or the owner from compelling the purchaser to pay for it if the sales management or seller deems fit. Upon failure of compliance the lot shall be resold by public or private sale and the deficiency (if any) attending such resale shall be made good by the defaulter immediately.
  6. Buyers attend this sale at their own risk. Management cannot be responsible for accidents.
  7. Consignors are reminded to bring registration papers, breeding certificates and signed transfers the day of the sale. They must be turned into the office before the sale. Buyers are responsible for transfer and fees. Checks will be mailed the following week.
